11-05-2012 The Fuji Cup (and saucer)
The first ever Fuji Cup tournament gets underway next week, with the two European and Japan play-off games taking place on Monday, and then each winner going forward to represent its region in a Euro-Japan final the week after next.
The Fuji Cup is a friendship tournament that has been running for several seasons now. It's a comradely handshake from Japan to the birthplace of football, Europe, and we wish all the teams luck in this, the inaugural competition.
PRESS NOTE: There are four invited teams in this season's tournament: Founding members FC St Pauli Ultras (Hamburg, Germany) and Sendai Vampires (Sendai, Japan) are joined by Res Ipsa Loquitur (Tokyo, Japan) and Fulhman (Sicily, Italy) in the first of what is hoped to be a seasonal event.
