24-04-2013 McGroin won’t be wielding sack!
Toepoke Chairman, Pat McGroin, has stated that manager, Mavis Fipp, will not be fired, despite growing disquiet among fans.
Responding to criticisms of his hapless manager, McGroin commented, “I’d love to sack the bugger – but I can’t. Due to some bizarre arrangement Fipp doesn’t just own the club, he is the club. If he ceases to manage Toepoke United, then we cease to exist.”
McGroin explained that Fipp was solely responsible for pretty much all aspects of life at Toepoke. “Fipp’s role goes well beyond that of a normal coach. He oversees all transfers, coordinates training, runs the Human Resources department, looks after the finances – he’s actually writing this press release.”
“He even designed and built the stadium, despite having no architectural qualifications or basic ability. I mean, look at our ground. You have to walk across the pitch to get to ninety per cent of the seats. The man is a moron but we’re stuck with him.”
