previous 2/6 next 4/6  Chaferia 2 - 1 Watussi (345438445)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Forcha stadium saw a crowd turnout of 13631. Fane Iacob was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Uli Eltz and Florindo Cerri. Chaferia had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Starters: Combariza - Pieschacón, Antonaya, Milkes, García - Clavijo, Greco, Quinchía, Charry - Jiménez, Iglesias.

Watussi started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Durán - Cordero, Acuña, Matiz, Cotes - Ibáñez, Monedero, Ibáñez, Lara - Mallarino, Penagos.

E. Combariza looked great 19 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors' A. Cotes. S. Quinchía stunned the crowd with a brilliant counterattack from the left, giving Chaferia the goal to make it 1 - 0. Chaferia managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when E. Pieschacón cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Watussi reduced the lead after 33 minutes to 2 - 1 as A. Penagos easily chipped the ball past the home side's keeper after a dazzling play from the right. J. Ibáñez of Watussi was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. 2 - 1 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Chaferia, with 56 percent of the ball.

Chaferia had to make a substitution after 60 minutes. J. Antonaya limped off the field and was replaced by R. Castillo. After 70 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by F. Jiménez might have resulted in another goal for Chaferia. However, G. Durán made a spectacular save. Chaferia enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

R. Castillo performed admirably for Chaferia. J. Milkes was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Watussi player was without a doubt A. Penagos. However, G. Durán made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 1.
