previous 7/10 next 9/10  Meds 0 - 1 Andorra (361968409)

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 3120 to med's park. Geri Jaindl was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Joseph Wyman and Hendrie Kamphuis. Meds had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation. Lineup: Stomphorst - Christiansson, Agulleiro - Ojopi, Sosa, Jacuński, Karn, Toutsidis - Trindade, Marinescu, Qvick.

Andorra decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Brandenburger - Polla, Abogabir, Haye - Strömsjö, Miguéis, do Barco, Reuß, Sultan - Escolà, Strömbo.

With 3 minutes played A. Qvick almost gave the home side the lead with an unexpected free kick set up, but the visitors' W. Brandenburger was onto it, grabbing the would be breakthrough ball. The visiting H. Strömsjö was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 25 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. No matter how hard he tried, X. Agulleiro just couldn't get his shot past the visitors' right side defence after 29 minutes. 30 minutes into the match, O. Escolà came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. Meds had no available replacements when F. Christiansson had to leave the game after 32 minutes because of a pulled tendon, leaving the team a man short. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. Andorra claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.

H. Sultan came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over M. Stomphorst but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. Usually a powerful player on the field, I. Marinescu looked kind of pale and tired under the hot sun. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from M. Strömbo after 85 minutes, and prevented Andorra from going up another goal. M. Stomphorst got a fingertip on H. Strömsjö's shot from the left 85 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. Andorra had most of the ball, with 55 percent of possession.

The most dominating Meds player was without a doubt M. Stomphorst. However, A. Qvick made a disastrous appearance. Andorra's best player was H. Strömsjö. A. Abogabir turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 1.
