The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 499 had shown up at
SAN BONITO for the match.
Mugur Popescu was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Manuel Baltes and
Soykan Kayabalı.
bonito started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
Lineup: Wuorinen - Valigura, Llanos, Cernăianu, Fosen - Šestić, Kranzl, Brugère, Reca - Favole, Lundquist.
S.S.CAVE decided to use a 4-5-1 set up.
They fielded: Sette - Mehru, Ledžius, Lemaire, Gaudiano - Scirgolea, Tambini, Amitrani, Raucci, Lind - Birch.
bonito were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
13 minutes into the game, S.S.CAVE seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
poor level of organisation.
The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 19 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
Z. Reca, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
Z. Reca squirmed through their central defence after 33 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
Confident in their lead, bonito's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
2 - 0 was the score after the first half.
bonito enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 65 percent of possession.
During the break, S.S.CAVE's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to
passable organisation.
After 59 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
M. Lundquist might have resulted in another goal for bonito. However,
G. Sette made a spectacular save.
78 minutes into the game,
P. Brugère had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
A. Alaminos.
T. Fosen was handed the bonito captain's armband.
M. Favole left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 80 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
G. Bini was the replacement.
It was obvious that bonito had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
The home side's
T. Fosen came close to extending the lead 80 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
G. Sette managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop.
81 minutes in, S.S.CAVE appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
weak.
A. Amitrani's lack of experience almost gave bonito a goal after 87 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms.
bonito's
M. Lundquist increased the lead to 3 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 88 minutes.
Possession in this half belonged to bonito, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.
The most dominating bonito player was without a doubt
M. Lundquist.
A. Alaminos was a disappointment, however.
Most important S.S.CAVE player was
T. Birch.
However,
E. Mehru made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 3 - 0.
