Ayberk Tarim.
Mousa started off with a 2-5-3 lineup.
They fielded: Ambrosi - Sayadi, Zappa - Petrunov, Bulut, Bray, Beal, Šimic - Hossain, Cakó, Roi.
Tergeste tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination.
The following players took the field: Frizione - Parodi, Mariconda - De Loreto, Basso Ricci, Farnè, Ribaldone, Salucci - Cerdelli, Bavastro, Bettio.
Slack defending gave Mousa a chance to take the lead with 7 minutes played, but
S. Bray's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition.
F. Cerdelli was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, Tergeste's
A. Farnè managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 0 - 1
18 minutes into the game, Tergeste were awarded a penalty and
G. Parodi was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 2 rolling the ball in by the right post.
A marvellous Mousa effort on the right-hand side resulted in a goal after 23 minutes by
S. Hossain, making the score 1 - 2.
A. De Loreto's speed is always a threat when he gets a little room to move, and 30 minutes into the match was no different as he broke free of his man to send a delightful through ball to
F. Cerdelli who knocked it in for Tergeste. 1 - 3!
A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from
A. Bettio after 35 minutes, and prevented Tergeste from going up another goal.
A drive down the left side allowed
A. De Loreto to get in close and score another goal for Tergeste after 37 minutes, taking the score to 1 - 4.
It was 1 - 4 at the break.
Tergeste claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.
After 54 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by Tergeste was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options.
L. Bavastro left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 60 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
K. Gravet was the replacement.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Tergeste coach let
S. Patskočimas replace
A. Bettio after 60 minutes.
After 62 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
F. Cerdelli a chance to increase the lead for Tergeste, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 5.
By now, the players in Tergeste felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Tergeste increased the lead to 1 - 6 as
G. Parodi scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner.
The home crowd was given a certain amount of consolation when
K. Šimic scored after a brilliant midfield combination through the centre, reducing the lead to 2 - 6.
V. Petrunov charged down the left and looked sure to score for Mousa 77 minutes into the game, but his shot went just wide.
The bench was restless, and with 86 minutes passed Mousa's coach gave
R. Salgueiro the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
P. Ambrosi reluctantly left the field.
After 88 minutes, Mousa switched
A. Zappa with
R. Halvorsen, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
With 89 minutes played, the Mousa coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
V. Järvensivu came on,
M. Sayadi had to leave the fray.
Tergeste had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.
Mousa's best player was
S. Hossain.
On the other hand,
R. Salgueiro's play was disheartening.
Most important Tergeste player was
A. De Loreto.
F. Cerdelli was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 2 - 6.
