Fancazzisti 1 - 6 Poboteam (366135184)

The crowd of 37050 turning up at Fancazzisti A.C. Arena today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Yohan Cabanne was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Brian Quarry and Marc van der Staaij. Fancazzisti had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Gerling - Copejans, Mourot, Caprara - Cantoni, Di Cara, Paysant, Elmārs, Di Luzio - Murru, Gottberg.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Poboteam. The following players had been chosen: Vagane - Deseranno, Hägglund, Kumičić - Raiski, Ruscitti, Vlas, Gams, Porębski - Prisco, Chivu.

Fancazzisti displayed their ability to play creatively. After 2 minutes, Poboteam's L. Porębski surprised everyone as he managed to intercept a pass intended for the opposing keeper and flip it in, making the score 0 - 1. The referee showed Poboteam's I. Chivu the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. A loud groan was heard from the fans of Fancazzisti, as O. Gerling left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match. G. Watermann took his place on the field. A drive down the left side allowed M. Ruscitti to get in close and score another goal for Poboteam after 23 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 2. An amazing free kick flew past the home keeper 25 minutes into the match, putting Poboteam ahead 0 - 3. U. Gams was the scorer. Fancazzisti's F. Caprara cut towards the middle after 27 minutes, receiving a brilliant pass and slicing through the visiting team's central defence, reducing the lead to 1 - 3. U. Gams of Poboteam took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 38 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 4. 1 - 4 was the score after the first half. Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.

M. Prisco was uncomfortable with the soggy pitch as he couldn't move the ball around with his usual grace. M. Swart was called on to replace Fancazzisti's G. Gottberg after 67 minutes following a nasty collision. With 75 minutes played, M. Prisco nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. Poboteam increased the lead to 1 - 5 as U. Gams scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner. At that, U. Gams was noted down for a hat trick! At this point, it was obvious that the players of Poboteam lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. F. Caprara tried to get a goal back for Fancazzisti but despite all his hard work down the right, he just couldn't complete the move. Poboteam increased their lead after 85 minutes when J. Raiski broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 6, much to the home crowd's dismay. Possession of the ball saw an equal split between the teams during the forty-five minutes.

Fancazzisti's top performer was clearly E. Elmārs. T. Copejans turned in a dismal performance, however. Poboteam's best player was I. Chivu. J. Hägglund was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 6.
