07-04-2012 12.30
Dark skies made the crowd of 27970 at
Trigul City Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Roy Forslind was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Stanys Danikauskis and
Laurens Sondervan.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Trigul.
They fielded: Brucato - Inzoli, Leutmezer, Servino - Büscher, Scanu, Zabalburu, De Dionigi, Vozzi - Schametz, Ventriglia.
Atletico tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination.
The following players took the field: Milić - Climent, Pontus, Schifano, Fontano - Spit, Hetper, Michelotti, Lučić, Özbek - Gerchkovich.
The wings were the focus of most of Trigul's attacks today.
Today, Atletico's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks.
6 minutes into the game,
F. Zabalburu had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
M. Fahem.
Attacking on the wings was the choice for Trigul, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack.
At 12 minutes played,
M. Fahem came in from the right with the intention of giving Trigul the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
13 minutes in, Trigul's
G. De Dionigi received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Trigul were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings.
Trigul made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left
M. Vozzi completely alone with keeper
D. Milić, who made a spectacular block.
After 27 minutes, Atletico put themselves up 0 - 1, as
G. Fontano finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
Trigul's
M. Scanu got himself booked for a foul.
A. Michelotti of Atletico had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game.
G. Rigo came in to finish the match.
It was 0 - 1 at the break.
Possession in this half belonged to Trigul, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.
76 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when Trigul's
G. De Dionigi received his second yellow card and was sent off.
77 minutes in, and Trigul were able to score the equalising goal to make it 1 - 1 when
S. Büscher picked up a pass coming in from the right and chipped it past the away team's keeper.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
O. Schametz, but the Trigul player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1!
Trigul had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead.
With 82 minutes played, Trigul's
F. Servino almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net.
Atletico's
P. Climent was shown a yellow card after 83 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Trigul's
M. Scanu increasing the lead to 3 - 1.
Trigul had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.
D. Ventriglia performed admirably for Trigul.
M. Fahem on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Atletico's best player was
