previous 7/10 next 9/10  PomaroloCity 0 - 1 Naples (366157289)

Dark skies made the crowd of 48791 at comunale a little nervous, but the rain held off. Johannes Ericsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Patryk Wicha and Pedro Jaén. PomaroloCity decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Noferi - Facchini, Melgarejo, Perea Gonzalez - Huynh, Malevolti, Simbeni, Barlati, Bhutia - Tassoni, Mazzalai.

A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Naples. Starters: Wangwe - Kopp, Lønbæk - Hommel, Villette, Vlãdãreanu, Pan, Farchi - Trentin, Ferrándiz, Rimbeaux.

1 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Naples substitution. C. Cavani came on for V. Ferrándiz. 7 minutes into the game, C. Cavani was a hair's breadth away from giving Naples the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by R. Noferi saved the home team that time. PomaroloCity had a great opportunity to score following a counterattack after 8 minutes, but O. Huynh's shot from the left sailed high over the bar. Naples's A. Vlãdãreanu gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 24 minutes with a superb strike from the right. 27 minutes into the match, E. Trentin came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. It was 0 - 1 at the break. Naples enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 78 percent of possession.

The coach of Naples was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 50 minutes, F. Basile came on for J. Lønbæk. The home crowd cheered when, after 58 minutes, I. Rimbeaux's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Naples coach let V. Moccia replace P. Villette after 61 minutes. Had it not been for one of the home defenders, E. Trentin would have put Naples up another goal 74 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. After the ball was lifted in from the left, E. Trentin was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 76 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. Naples's P. Kopp was shown a yellow card after 77 minutes for slicing down an opponent. C. Cavani came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over R. Noferi but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. Naples claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 80 percent.

The most dominating PomaroloCity player was without a doubt J. Perea Gonzalez. On the other hand, R. Noferi's play was disheartening. S. Wangwe performed admirably for Naples. A. Farchi turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 1.
