It had rained all day, but 48470 hardy fans still made it out to
OLD TRAFFORD.
Jesper Severinsen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ernst Branco and
Italo Dalla Sega.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for MANUTD.
Lineup: Spena - Gjesing, Saurat, Mellibosky - Madden, Vanderwal, Troiano, Aaltola, Queiss - Araújo Ribeiro, Padun.

They fielded: Scalmana - Santner, Fredriksson, Brüggemann - Forssjö, Toresson, van der Kuijlen, Gallaga - Boberski, Bari, Flessas.
LIVERPOOL saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
Attacking on the wings was the choice for LIVERPOOL, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack.
After 9 minutes, LIVERPOOL put themselves up 0 - 1, as
F. Boberski finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
The crowd chanted their encouragement as MANUTD's
C. Araújo Ribeiro came in from the right after 13 minutes and put the ball in the net to level the score at 1 - 1.
After 37 minutes
V. Padun made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to
C. Araújo Ribeiro who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 2 - 1.
LIVERPOOL were close to putting the equaliser away after 38 minutes as the opposing defence lost control of the ball to
N. Flessas in a scuffle towards the left of the goal, but in the end the ball was cleared over the dead ball line.
The home side's
V. Padun curled a free kick home after 39 minutes, putting MANUTD ahead 3 - 1.
3 - 1 was the score after the first half.
MANUTD claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 63 percent.
After 58 minutes,
E. Aaltola put MANUTD ahead 4 - 1 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
Almost all the way down to the corner flag, LIVERPOOL's
M. Forssjö somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for
N. Flessas, who struck for 4 - 2.
K. Gjesing was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions.
The home side's
K. Vanderwal came close to extending the lead 64 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
G. Scalmana managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop.
V. Padun could have put MANUTD up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 65 minutes.
N. Troiano left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 75 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
C. Da Cruz was the replacement.
E. Aaltola's lack of experience almost gave LIVERPOOL a goal after 79 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms.
G. Scalmana was caught napping as
V. Padun lifted a ball over him following a free kick, but the ball hit the bar, rebounding into the keeper's arms.
Coming from the right,
V. Padun almost managed to score another goal for MANUTD, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper.

J. Bari.
However,
L. Toresson made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 4 - 2.
