LT&MV 4 - 0 Libertad
(375609877)

25-03-2012 22.40
It had rained all day, but 38041 hardy fans still made it out to
Terremoto Stadium.
Saleh Mahmoud was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Pedro Gradín and
David Watt.
LT&MV started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Robles - Ócsai, Marie-Luce, Cavada - Kaounas, Rácz, Wessling, Schiavone, Bongiovani - Seese, Sigmaringer.
Libertad decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Starters: Newton - Lescrauwaet, Somália, Montellano - Vestdijk, Thorsen, Rodriguez, Roldán, Kykkänen - Podevyn, Chandra.
Libertad mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
T. Seese did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch.
LT&MV broke through on the left 15 minutes into the game, with
A. Sigmaringer firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead.
LT&MV's
N. Kaounas swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball.
LT&MV's
Z. Rácz increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 24 minutes.
The players of LT&MV now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
After 32 minutes LT&MV's
E. Bongiovani limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
The visitors got a chance to pulling one back after 35 minutes, due to a defensive blunder leaving
S. Podevyn completely unmarked. His strike was pathetic though, easy prey for the home side's keeper.
LT&MV had no available replacements when
Z. Rácz had to leave the game after 37 minutes because of a pulled tendon, leaving the team a man short.
2 - 0 was the halftime score.
LT&MV claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.
A. Sigmaringer's lightning pace was too much for
N. Montellano who could only look on as the LT&MV player blasted one home. 3 - 0.
The bench was restless, and with 60 minutes passed Libertad's coach gave
L. Museti the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
S. Chandra reluctantly left the field.
E. Bongiovani should probably have put his team up another goal after 69 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
A. Newton kept the visitors in the game.
Libertad needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 69 minutes
R. Somália made way for
F. Delcarte.
With 75 minutes played, the Libertad coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
G. Lustig came on,
S. Thorsen had to leave the fray.
L. Museti had a couple of good opportunities to reply, but the home team's keeper
D. Robles was simply unbeatable.
K. Marie-Luce increased the lead for LT&MV to 4 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
LT&MV put in a good effort on the right, but
S. Wessling saw his volley fly wide of the mark 87 minutes into the game.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by LT&MV, with 53 percent of the ball.
LT&MV's top performer was clearly
A. Sigmaringer.
However,
M. Cavada made a disastrous appearance.
Libertad's best player was
S. Podevyn.
G. Lustig was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 4 - 0.
