previous 2/10 next 4/10  Ronchi 2 - 1 Milan (378663820)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 2351 had shown up at Delle Piccole Dolomiti "Silvio Schaeren" for the match. Wolfram Chung was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Manu Paasiola and Herman Scott. A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Ronchi. The following players took the field: Falkenman - De Ronzi, Borrel, Rodis, Mauny, Żwidlak - Sæther, Baptiste, Whittington - Thieblemont, Divo.

Milan decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. They fielded: Tallieu - Zibens, Stapper - Kunz, De Mey, Terzeta, Pieters, Svīķis - Robrahn, Yousef, Tabirri.

R. Svīķis made one of his many fine passes from the wing into the middle 12 minutes into the match. S. Kunz bravely attempted to execute a diving header and the ball was met firmly with his forehead for Milan. 0 - 1. 18 minutes into the game, Milan seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to passable. The referee showed Milan's R. Svīķis the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Ronchi's H. Sæther left the field after 29 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was L. Gilman. S. Baptiste made a superb strike after 35 minutes with a shot straight in front of the goal after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second and warded it off for a corner. 41 minutes in, Milan appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only inadequate. 43 minutes into the game, Milan worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. What was O. Pieters thinking? That's what everyone wondered when, for no apparent reason, he shot a cross pass over his own penalty area, giving J. Divo an extra chance, but unfortunately for Ronchi, he didn't get the shot right. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. Milan enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.

A review of the gameplan helped Milan get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from F. De Mey after 57 minutes, and prevented Milan from going up another goal. Milan's F. De Mey was shown a yellow card after 63 minutes for slicing down an opponent. 69 minutes into the game, Milan seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a poor level of organisation. Milan's G. Stapper was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 77 minutes. After 78 minutes, L. Gilman made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 1 - 1. S. Baptiste knocked one home from a counterattack down the right wing, making the score 2 - 1 after 81 minutes. M. Terzeta of Milan received a yellow card after 83 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Milan's G. Stapper had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 84 minutes having been played. I. Kasyrev was the replacement. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Milan, with 53 percent of the ball.

The most dominating Ronchi player was without a doubt R. Rodis. On the other hand, L. Gilman's play was disheartening. Milan's best player was I. Kasyrev. J. Zibens turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 1.
