Dark skies made the crowd of 1572 at A.S. Augusta Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. Arist Bada was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Caspar Regehr and Rudolph Elssenwenger. A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Augusta. After this, you could see that the players of Albacete were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. After 35 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed G. Figueroa to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 5. 0 - 5 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Albacete, with 69 percent of the ball.

Albacete increased the lead to 0 - 6 as R. Aboigor scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner. The bench was restless, and with 60 minutes passed Augusta's coach gave D. Minola the opportunity the player had been hoping for. D. Bertoni reluctantly left the field. 60 minutes into the game, Albacete worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. With 69 minutes played, Albacete's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to R. Roep he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 0 - 8. After 70 minutes, Augusta switched G. Rotaru with P. Radomile, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Players in Albacete heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. With 72 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed A. Goichon of Albacete to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 9. At that, A. Goichon was noted down for a hat trick! Albacete claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 68 percent.
