previous 9/10 next 1/10  Juventus 3 - 2 Gohlis (379616134)

Clouds darkened the skies at Betta Stadium as 1761 spectators turned up for the match. Samuel Svensson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ian Månsson and Nils Günter Wallbach. Juventus started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. They fielded: Martella - Perotti, Nini - D'Aleo, Öhrell, Molons, Jylhäsalo, Pagnini - Lorusso, Mortelliti, Mazzucato.

A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Gohlis. Lineup: Günsel - Malakakis, Herget, Dissau - Picariello, Rottenhoff, Lintermann, Mair - Frobenius, Fleischhauer, Braxein.

Juventus showed off their creative tactics. Gohlis clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. Juventus fans held their breath as G. D'Aleo scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0! Juventus had to make a substitution after 20 minutes. E. Nini limped off the field and was replaced by M. Lolini. With 24 minutes played, Juventus put themselves up 2 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to T. Lorusso, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. Confident in their lead, Juventus's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. G. Bessunger was called on to replace Gohlis's R. Lintermann after 25 minutes following a nasty collision. 26 minutes into the match, the speedy T. Frobenius easily outpaced M. Lolini, chipped the keeper and made the score 2 - 1. 36 minutes into the game Gohlis's G. Bessunger found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 2 - 2. Juventus made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left D. Mortelliti completely alone with keeper N. Günsel, who made a spectacular block. It was 2 - 2 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Juventus, with 64 percent of the ball.

Juventus broke through on the left 47 minutes into the game, with H. Öhrell firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 3 - 2 lead. T. Lorusso could have increased the lead after 69 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. A great save by keeper N. Günsel after 70 minutes kept the visitors in the game after W. Perotti struck from the left with a real cannonball. D. Mortelliti unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Juventus enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 68 percent of possession.

The most dominating Juventus player was without a doubt G. Mazzucato. G. Martella was a disappointment, however. Gohlis's top performer was clearly G. Bessunger. F. Picariello turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 2.
