previous 2/10 next 4/10  blue_armys 0 - 7 Olympic (380102916)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 12000 had shown up at blue_armys Arena for the match. Viktor Sárosi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Roffe Hökerberg and Walter Kremser. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for blue_armys. The following players took the field: Pelerin - Verdievel, Cecchinato, Voet, Colassin - Jeanmart, Ferri, Timsonet, Verspaille - Alptuğ, Staessens.

Olympic had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Cegastia - Lässer, Antoin, Levine, Rydzak, Rong Chang - Rigo, Amoroso, Vosté - Belmar, Blairon.

After 3 minutes, Olympic's T. Rigo made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. Olympic came close to extending their lead as D. Antoin delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 6 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. Olympic increased their lead after 13 minutes when L. Belmar broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 2, much to the home crowd's dismay. The referee showed blue_armys's F. Verdievel the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. A drive down the left side allowed L. Belmar to get in close and score another goal for Olympic after 29 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 3. Confident in their lead, Olympic's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. 34 minutes into the game, Olympic had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to solid. Olympic's L. Belmar made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 35 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. blue_armys's W. Voet was shown a yellow card after 36 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Halftime score was 0 - 3. Possession in this half belonged to Olympic, who controlled the ball 85 percent of the time.

A review of the gameplan helped Olympic get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. With 50 minutes played, Olympic put themselves up 0 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was O. Rong Chang. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Olympic coach let D. Uten replace L. Belmar after 60 minutes. T. Vosté wanted to play on, but the Olympic coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 70 minutes into the game by M. van Wely. The Olympic players could smell victory in the air. T. Rigo wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for S. Hannes after 70 minutes. A. Rydzak became the new Olympic captain. After a short break after 70 minutes, Olympic seemed to change their tactical approach a bit. The Olympic coach was visibly pleased with the score so far, but still ordered a few tactical changes 70 minutes into the game. After 72 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Olympic found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to solid. F. Levine of Olympic took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 83 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 5. The visitors' J. Lässer took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 86 minutes into the match. 0 - 6 for Olympic. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave M. van Wely from Olympic a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 87 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! A. Rydzak increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 7. Olympic had no available replacements when F. Levine had to leave the game after 88 minutes because of a pulled tendon, leaving the team a man short. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, P. Amoroso got himself booked. The manager of Olympic was not happy. Had it not been for one of the home defenders, M. van Wely would have put Olympic up another goal 89 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. Olympic enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 85 percent of possession.

blue_armys's best player was W. Voet. On the other hand, J. Timsonet's play was disheartening. Olympic's top performer was clearly P. Amoroso. S. Hannes was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 7.
