21-07-2012 10.00
The 49548 fans in attendance at
Wisdom Arena were roasting in the hot sun.
Manu Gielen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Etienne Aipassa and
Bjarne Høyland.
A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Tg-Jiu.
They fielded: Baratta - Gil, De Sario - Dincă, Rogeon, Sumberg, Sultz, Pozzoni - Sairinen, Moeschinger, Rambone.
BlonZi decided to use a 3-4-3 set up.
Lineup: Mărgelatu - Móra, Târziu, Sendas - Helle, Meissnitzer, Vedder, San Miguel - Klounenko, Pimpinella, Popescu.
BlonZi clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
Tg-Jiu's
M. Dincă was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box -
A. Sairinen managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 1 - 0 after 7 minutes.
With 23 minutes played,
V. Pozzoni of Tg-Jiu fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
Ø. Sumberg's technique was perfect on this sunny day and led to some breathtaking tricks that bamboozled the defence.
After 33 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by BlonZi was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options.
B. Popescu tied the game at 1 - 1 after 34 minutes, when he converted an incredible pass from the right.
1 - 1 was the halftime score.
Possession in this half belonged to Tg-Jiu, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.
After 55 minutes, BlonZi's
N. San Miguel made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 1 - 2.
After 73 minutes of play,
A. Sairinen equalised for Tg-Jiu after an elegant attack from the right.
G. Pimpinella didn't pace himself at all, and after a series of daring offensive runs he was too tired to help out in the defensive play.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
M. Dincă, but the Tg-Jiu player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 3 - 2!
G. Meissnitzer of BlonZi was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
86 minutes into the match, BlonZi's
R. Târziu missed a penalty. This was not his day.
87 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
F. Rambone broke through, making the score 4 - 2 for Tg-Jiu.
Tg-Jiu had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.
Tg-Jiu's best player was
F. Rambone.
J. Gil on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The most dominating BlonZi player was without a doubt
G. Pimpinella.
On the other hand,
G. Mărgelatu's play was disheartening.
The match ends 4 - 2.
