7890 punters turned up at
Valentin Stanescu ,,Giulesti", and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Augustus Euverman was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Magnus Malmling and
Tobias Huber.
A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Bucuresti.
The following players had been chosen: Chiricheş - Lăzărescu, Julea, Mureşan - Cipoş, Seichei, Scornaienchi, Carpen - Davison, Gerus, Sorescu.
F.C.N.L decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
They fielded: Maurer - Emsal, Mihai, Bârcea, Tiuţiu - Grecu, Tameş, Ostache, Cadar - Verzea, Horvat.
Bucuresti took a creative approach on the field.
T. Tiuţiu sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from
C. Emsal after 24 minutes of play, making the score 0 - 1.
After 26 minutes of play,
S. Gerus evened things up for Bucuresti with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 1 - 1.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
T. Tiuţiu from F.C.N.L a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 27 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
With 28 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience,
G. Ostache needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed.
C. Sorescu gave Bucuresti the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 2 - 1
F.C.N.L's
R. Horvat got himself booked for a foul.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
I. Cipoş squirmed through their central defence after 33 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 1.
R. Seichei dispatched a majestic long shot 35 minutes into the match, but missed the goal by a few metres.
G. Ostache seemed highly inexperienced when, after 37 minutes, he was caught dilly-dallying with the ball and allowed
R. Seichei to intercept and strike home the goal for Bucuresti to make the score 4 - 1.
Bucuresti managed to extend their lead to 5 - 1 when
S. Davison cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
41 minutes into the game, Bucuresti had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
passable.
With 42 minutes played, Bucuresti put themselves up 6 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
C. Scornaienchi, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
Halftime score was 6 - 1.
Bucuresti had most of the ball, with 76 percent of possession.
The Bucuresti players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a
solid organisation when the game started again.
After 48 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
C. Sorescu gave the Bucuresti supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 7 - 1.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Bucuresti lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Bucuresti to 8 - 1 as
S. Davison finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
55 minutes in, Bucuresti appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
solid.
67 minutes into the match, the technically gifted
N. Carpen of Bucuresti scored 9 - 1, having made
C. Tameş look like a complete fool.
Bucuresti's
N. Carpen increased the lead to 10 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 70 minutes.
L. Mureşan increased the lead for Bucuresti to 11 - 1, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
78 minutes into the game, Bucuresti seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
inadequate.
80 minutes in, F.C.N.L's
C. Bârcea received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
E. Chiricheş's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Bucuresti, he bravely continued in the match.
Bucuresti claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 78 percent.
S. Gerus performed admirably for Bucuresti.
E. Chiricheş was a disappointment, however.
F.C.N.L's best player was
R. Horvat.
T. Verzea turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 11 - 1.
