54403 spectators had come to
Juventus Stadium this cloudy day.
Helmuth Friedrich Leitner was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Giorgio Giusberti and
Daniel Svensson.
JUVE tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Starters: Iovenitti - Doychinov, Savia, Petitto - Gallardo, Ribet, 聪名 (Congming), Galván, Umilta - Palombarini, Günal.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for MTJR.
The following players had been chosen: Võsa - Sarv, Vähi, Jänes, Nõgel - Haug, Paju, Paloveer, Valuev - Reppu, Allas.
MTJR clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
JUVE took the lead 21 minutes in, as
Z. Günal broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
Z. Günal could have put JUVE up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 35 minutes.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
L. Vähi from MTJR a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 41 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
R. Gallardo of JUVE had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game.
J. Beckmann came in to finish the match.
43 minutes into the match
Z. Günal put JUVE ahead 2 - 0 with a truly marvelous free kick.
The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0.
JUVE claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.
R. Petitto wanted to play on, but the JUVE coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 70 minutes into the game by
E. Neuteboom.
V. Doychinov of JUVE seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 3 - 0 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
Z. Günal.
MTJR's counterattacks created a good chance for
U. Paju on the right after 77 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar.
JUVE's
E. Savia got himself booked for a foul.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, MTJR's
R. Paloveer was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 80 minutes.
T. Urbalu was given a chance to change things around.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by JUVE, with 64 percent of the ball.
JUVE's best player was
Z. Günal.
On the other hand,
J. Beckmann's play was disheartening.
H. Allas performed admirably for MTJR.
S. Jänes on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 0.
