(381663563)

28-07-2012 12.00
The 51425 fans in attendance at
Quahog Stadium were roasting in the hot sun.
Dani Cojocaru was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Johan Berghmans and
Marius Schallenberg.
Stewie started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Negrete - Höhenschäft, Hämmerle, Malpede - Maseela, Del Riccio, Florescu, Marchal, Buzaglo - Hellersdorf, Darnyi.
LIBRE tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Starters: Matys - Sala O'Shea, Giacomello, Natalicchio - Arte, Grossmann, Sender, Agacki, Aulí - Giglitto, Stjärnby.
It was an obvious ambition of LIBRE to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
LIBRE's
R. Aulí left the field after 10 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
R. Khan.
B. Streekstra was called on to replace Stewie's
M. Höhenschäft after 20 minutes following a nasty collision.
Attacking on the wings was the choice for LIBRE, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack.
Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 21 minutes into the match, and
R. Khan wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
After 29 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
E. Agacki to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 2.
The Stewie coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change strategy.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2.
Stewie had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.
After a short break after 54 minutes, LIBRE seemed to change their tactical approach a bit.
In the lead, LIBRE adjusted their style of play with 55 minutes gone.
L. Arte found it hard to catch his breath today in the stifling heat.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Stewie's
T. Hämmerle was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 65 minutes.
A. Petrilli was given a chance to change things around.
After 73 minutes,
M. Darnyi had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for Stewie with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar.
Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
A. Stjärnby would have put LIBRE up another goal 74 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing.
Speedy
A. Buzaglo tried one of his patented rushes 79 minutes into the game, but
J. Sala O'Shea was just as fast and averted the attack.
After 80 minutes of game time,
S. Giglitto had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but
M. Negrete was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner.
LIBRE were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings.
C. Grossmann could have put his team up another goal 84 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Stewie, with 57 percent of the ball.
The most dominating Stewie player was without a doubt
M. Darnyi.
M. Maseela turned in a dismal performance, however.
LIBRE's top performer was clearly
S. Natalicchio.
However,
R. Khan made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 0 - 2.
