previous 10/10 next 2/10  River Ale 11 - 0 Macellari (381726529)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and River Coliseum saw a crowd turnout of 27396. Tiago Lemos was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Karsten Rosenø and Rainer Stambach. River Ale tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Depauw - Fatih, Criscuolo - bin Abd Malek, Scorza, Rousset, Regev, Brunner - Quattrucci, Välkkynen, Willem.

Macellari had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Lineup: Conca - Speroni, Gufo, Matera, Fagnini - Furlan, Rodighiero, Gianquitto, Marafatto - Mattiacci, Cauzzi.

Given a free kick close to the byline, River Ale tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let D. Brunner slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 1 - 0, 7 minutes into the game. 26 minutes into the match, River Ale's A. Quattrucci popped up from nowhere, cheekily stole the ball off an opposition player and scored. 2 - 0. Things were deteriorating for the away team as River Ale scored another to make it 3 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for A. Criscuolo after 29 minutes. At this point, it was obvious that the players of River Ale lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Cheers filled the stadium as A. Quattrucci broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 0 to River Ale. Macellari's N. Mattiacci left the field after 39 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was M. Sidoli. River Ale managed to extend their lead to 5 - 0 when A. Quattrucci cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. By then A. Quattrucci had scored three goals - a hat trick! River Ale's R. Willem increased the lead to 6 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 43 minutes. It was 6 - 0 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by River Ale, with 90 percent of the ball.

River Ale solidified their lead at the 53 minute mark, as A. Quattrucci dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 7 - 0. With 71 minutes played, V. Gianquitto of Macellari fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. K. Regev left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 75 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. R. Simionato was the replacement. The coach of River Ale was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 75 minutes, G. Gaskins came on for A. bin Abd Malek. River Ale put themselves up 8 - 0 when D. Brunner broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in River Ale's J. Välkkynen increasing the lead to 9 - 0. B. Cauzzi of Macellari received a yellow card after 83 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. After 85 minutes, River Ale were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. J. Välkkynen did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. Unsportsmanlike behaviour by B. Cauzzi rendered him his second booking of the match, and Macellari had to finish the game with a reduced squad. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of River Ale to 10 - 0 as D. Brunner finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. At that, D. Brunner was noted down for a hat trick! River Ale's J. Välkkynen finished emphatically to make the score 11 -0 after 88 minutes, after the enigmatic P. Scorza pulled a delightful long pass from his box of tricks to bypass the defence. Possession in this half belonged to River Ale, who controlled the ball 92 percent of the time.

The most dominating River Ale player was without a doubt S. Fatih. T. Depauw turned in a dismal performance, however. Macellari's best player was M. Sidoli. On the other hand, M. Furlan's play was disheartening. The match ends 11 - 0.
