Clouds darkened the skies at Secutors Arena as 29870 spectators turned up for the match. Paul Boyneburgk was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Tommi Oerlemans and Lars Pålsson. Piti were relying on their ability to counter-attack. After a fine move down the middle R. Zaldúa nearly gave the home side a goal after 3 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. A. Andrico of GOLPEADOR received a yellow card after 10 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. After 11 minutes, a long pass from Piti's A. Júnior caught the defence out of position. I. Phillips collected the ball, and with the goal at his mercy calmly rolled the ball just inside the post. 0 - 1. A. Andrico was just a finger's breadth away from an equaliser for GOLPEADOR with a strike from the left, but A. Rooney managed to ward the shot off for a corner. Piti's counterattack was impressive and was only stopped by a shocking foul. Somehow, the referee's cards remained in his pocket - a terrible decision! H. van der Zijde's resulting free kick was easily saved by the keeper. GOLPEADOR's P. Contero put his head to a high ball coming in from the right after 32 minutes, but the ball went wide. Piti's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 33 minutes gone, but T. Värelä's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. GOLPEADOR enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 74 percent of possession.

With 61 minutes having been played, GOLPEADOR scored to make it 1 - 1. A dribble down the left wing, followed by a shot which took a wicked bounce off a defender resulted in the keeper having no chance. Everyone thought it'd been an own goal, but J. Vitores was marked down as the scorer. 65 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Piti substitution. K. Raknes came on for I. Phillips. After 65 minutes, the Piti coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving A. Júnior off the field. K. Gozdur took his place. Making his way up the middle 72 minutes into the match, R. Zaldúa almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert A. Rooney blocked it to keep the score level. GOLPEADOR claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 74 percent.

Most important GOLPEADOR player was J. Vitores. However, J. Olazábal made a disastrous appearance. Piti's top performer was clearly K. Raknes. K. Neisius turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 1.
