It had rained all day, but 22375 hardy fans still made it out to
Galvanitos Stadium.
Tamariz Azagra was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Moreno Carpatelli and
Ricardo Natividade.
Galvanitos started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Lineup: Ferrari - Denegri, van der Vlugt, Raspalvelli - Tegtorp, Godschalk, Salawa, Jensen, Kössi - Beatović, Moonen.
Filets decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players took the field: Mureşan - Kurpanik, Ulfborn, Cordeira - Soulier, Kovpak, Módena, Ciannarella, Kiehlborn - Ruà, Scandalibeni.
A. Godschalk caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 4 minutes. This gave Galvanitos the 1 - 0 lead.
9 minutes into the game
B. Scandalibeni could see that the opposing goalie was out of position and tried an unexpected lob that the keeper just barely reached. The rebound went to
J. Kiehlborn who failed to hit the target.
Filets levelled the score after 17 minutes to make it 1 - 1, as
J. Kiehlborn struck home after a fine midfield combination through the centre, which left him completely unmarked.
This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when
G. Ciannarella slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against
A. Ferrari, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1.
Filets claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.
After 50 minutes, Filets's
M. Kurpanik made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 1 - 2.
51 minutes into the match,
G. Ciannarella came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide.
After 52 minutes, Filets's
G. Ciannarella burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 3.
Confident in their lead, Filets's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
Y. Nobre was called on to replace Galvanitos's
E. Salawa after 61 minutes following a nasty collision.
With 71 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
R. Módena of Filets to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 1 - 4.
G. Ciannarella increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 1 - 5.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Filets, with 60 percent of the ball.
Galvanitos's best player was
A. Godschalk.
A. Ferrari on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Most important Filets player was
D. Kovpak.
On the other hand,
M. Cordeira's play was disheartening.
The match ends 1 - 5.
