previous 3/10 next 5/10  St.Pau 0 - 3 Patapalo (383009067)

Clear skies welcomed the 18689 spectators who had made their way to St.Pau Arenas. Roman Woźnicki was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Edouard Delplanque and Victor Egebjerg. Everyone was excited about the upcoming Catalunya derby and the crowd was divided evenly. St.Pau had chosen a strategic 5-2-3 formation. They fielded: Östhult - Hercogs, Fritz, Roşianu, Bejat, Szymuś - Nedergaard, Szostok - Plasma, Greeske, Echavarria.

Patapalo decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Germain - Gkoutakis, Kolík, Vobořil - Bjelkåsen, Capuñay, Weber-Schäfer, Ribalta, Chapman - Vasilescu, Fiore.

For their match strategy, St.Pau had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. After 3 minutes, Patapalo put themselves up 0 - 1, as J. Vobořil finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. 5 minutes in, Patapalo appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only inadequate. The referee signalled a penalty 24 minutes into the game following an offence which looked like it was outside the box. E. Vasilescu knocked it home to make the score 0 - 2. 0 - 2 was the halftime score. Patapalo enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 73 percent of possession.

A review of the gameplan helped Patapalo get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. Good work by the St.Pau defensive line after 63 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found L. Plasma alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. An amazing free kick flew past the home keeper 64 minutes into the match, putting Patapalo ahead 0 - 3. E. Vasilescu was the scorer. 70 minutes into the game, Patapalo seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to inadequate. 71 minutes into the game, Patapalo seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a poor level of organisation. St.Pau's I. Hercogs was shown a yellow card after 78 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Possession in this half belonged to Patapalo, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.

Most important St.Pau player was L. Plasma. On the other hand, R. Fritz's play was disheartening. J. Capuñay performed admirably for Patapalo. J. Germain on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 3.
