The 4649 fans in attendance at Racing-03 Arena were roasting in the hot sun. Gaffar Ertaşgün was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Silvio Brun and Torbjörn Österdahl. Racing-03 had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Lineup: Abegondo - Escoda, Marco, Calzada, Salces - Mourtadi, Barcena, Berga, Zamfiroiu - Tabanera, Isasaga.

Marí tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Agulha - Noya, Osorio Bazan, Lupu - Massant, Cava, Hiltz, Zaldain, Malpede - Iturris, Gjika.

Marí used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. A. Tabanera of Racing-03 was able to make an impressive rush past the sluggish V. Lupu, which resulted in a goal making the score 1 - 0. F. Malpede tied the game at 1 - 1 after 31 minutes, when he converted an incredible pass from the right. 34 minutes into the match, Marí nearly took the lead, as C. Hiltz broke through on the right. R. Abegondo made the save, however. With 35 minutes played, D. Noya of Marí fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Marí had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. The visiting C. Hiltz was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 37 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 1 - 2 was the score. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Marí, with 67 percent of the ball.

A penalty was awarded after 56 minutes, and J. Osorio Bazan made the most of his chance to put Marí up by another goal. 1 - 3 for the visitors. After 59 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for C. Hiltz who increased Marí's lead to 1 - 4. The referee showed Marí's N. Massant the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Racing-03 were forced into a substitution as D. Barcena couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing O. Passada to come in off the bench. D. Noya increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 1 - 5. By now, the players in Marí felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. After 69 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed D. Noya to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 6. C. Iturris of Marí took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 71 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 7. Marí enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 72 percent of possession.

The most dominating Racing-03 player was without a doubt J. Marco. R. Abegondo was a disappointment, however. Marí's top performer was clearly C. Iturris. On the other hand, A. Gjika's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 7.
