Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 48122 at Haugesund united Arena today. Fatih Ayaz was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Diego Mulero and Helmut Treu. Haugesund tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Gay scored on a marvellous cross pass coming in from the left. Cheers filled the stadium as M. Keilhofer broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 1 to Haugesund. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. V. Alfarano squirmed through their central defence after 38 minutes, increasing the lead to 5 - 1. By now, the players in Haugesund felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Halftime score was 5 - 1. Haugesund had most of the ball, with 76 percent of possession.

It was obvious that team Haugesund had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. 50 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as F.
