previous 4/10 next 6/10  Eintracht 2 - 2 Rantantan (384365156)

It had rained all day, but 25146 hardy fans still made it out to Eintracht Arena. Riccardo Lucini was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Iulian Cucu and Edward Albertolli. Eintracht decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Flanke - Demirkapı, Foppen, Gick - Pešina, Vukosavljević, Rieper, Irueta, Gabrielli - Nurmela, Fußnegger.

Rantantan had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Pantanella - Zalán, Mammerler, Pauler, Brahe - Duif, Shuttleworth, Henneberg, Panjković - Pittalis, Pfränger.

O. Henneberg did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. Eintracht took the lead 7 minutes in, as S. Demirkapı broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. A. Eriş was called on to replace Rantantan's O. Henneberg after 14 minutes following a nasty collision. It was 1 - 0 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Eintracht, with 57 percent of the ball.

53 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as S. Demirkapı broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Eintracht. The coach of Eintracht was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 68 minutes, G. Birschl came on for J. Pešina. In the lead, Eintracht adjusted their style of play with 68 minutes gone. S. Foppen should probably have put his team up another goal after 69 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by E. Pantanella kept the visitors in the game. S. Foppen wanted to play on, but the Eintracht coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 72 minutes into the game by A. Samuel. 76 minutes into the game, Eintracht seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. E. Pantanella was caught napping as C. Irueta lifted a ball over him following a free kick, but the ball hit the bar, rebounding into the keeper's arms. Rantantan fought on and, after 83 minutes, M. Shuttleworth was able to reduce the deficit to 2 - 1 after some excellent moves on the right side were finished off with an incredibly clever chip. The visitors' L. Mammerler was alert after a cross coming in from the left, levelling the score at 2 - 2 after 84 minutes. Rantantan had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

The most dominating Eintracht player was without a doubt D. Fußnegger. On the other hand, A. Samuel's play was disheartening. Rantantan's best player was A. Pittalis. R. Pauler turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 2.
