16-06-2012 18.20
Due to an all-day shower, 17723 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at
diavolinas.
Vítor Vidal was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Mats Lönnquist and
Radko Polák.
diavolinas decided to use a 4-5-1 set up.
Lineup: Álava - Süß, Kosančić, Cerofolini, Colin - Schwammberger, Üs, Bayerlein, Moldovan, Nopp - Hantelmann.
Bramsche started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
They fielded: Paschke - Menetetter, Hoeft, Stierschneider - Tiedmannsdorff, Pilz, Petković, Norem, Kipp - Trapolino, Everblom.
Pressing was the tactic of the day for diavolinas.
Bramsche saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
With 9 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
T. Petković put the ball away for 0 - 1.
Bramsche were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings.
Bramsche's
J. Everblom made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 11 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line.
At this time in the match, diavolinas were using their skill at pressing to successfully stifle the game.
J. Everblom was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on!
diavolinas had to manage with a reduced squad after 31 minutes, as
S. Colin got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action.
M. Kaulbarsch was called on to replace Bramsche's
T. Petković after 32 minutes following a nasty collision.
Halftime score was 0 - 1.

A. Hantelmann did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch.
65 minutes into the game, Bramsche worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.
It was obvious that Bramsche had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
75 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 3 as
M. Kaulbarsch finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick.
By now, the players in Bramsche felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Bramsche increased their lead after 82 minutes when
K. Stierschneider broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 4, much to the home crowd's dismay.
Bramsche claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.
Most important diavolinas player was
A. Hantelmann.
I. Álava turned in a dismal performance, however.
F. Pilz performed admirably for Bramsche.
However,
M. Kaulbarsch made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 0 - 4.
