Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
Onkelz Inn saw a crowd turnout of 7899.
Christoph Ruder was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ralph von Wackerbarth and
Walter Giorgio Valtorta.
Mummenschanz had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation.
Starters: Tabak - Bebel, Kuzgun, Schug, Preuss - Moreira, Ziegenhagen, Saltzer, Rojas, Schinner - Flaczyński.
Wismut started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
Lineup: Grünzer - Hammerich, Braband, Vukovic, Mueß - Tielsch, Mei, Wittenberge, Groll - Benck, Heidt.
E. Preuss received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 3 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score.
Mummenschanz could have put themselves ahead after 11 minutes but
H. Schug missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right.
Mummenschanz created a good opportunity to score 20 minutes into the match when
H. Schug's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball.
Wismut played a good counterattacking move down the left 21 minutes into the match, with
J. Wittenberge finishing well for 0 - 1.
31 minutes into the match, Wismut could have gone up another goal, but
J. Wittenberge's penalty kick missed the goal by a mile.
The crowd chanted their encouragement as Mummenschanz's
M. Rojas came in from the right after 32 minutes and put the ball in the net to level the score at 1 - 1.
Wismut's
F. Braband got himself booked for a foul.
38 minutes into the match and the home team took a 2 - 1 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Mummenschanz was
H. Saltzer.
K. Tielsch of Wismut was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
It was 2 - 1 at the break.
Possession in this half belonged to Mummenschanz, who controlled the ball 66 percent of the time.
Mummenschanz's
S. Schinner increased the lead to 3 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 51 minutes.
Confident in their lead, Mummenschanz's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
The referee showed Wismut's
C. Benck the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
C. Benck knew he was in trouble after hacking down an opponent. Despite his pleading with the referee, the Wismut player was shown a second yellow card and dismissed from the game.
S. Schinner was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, Mummenschanz's
S. Flaczyński managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 4 - 1
K. Tielsch remonstrated furiously with the referee after Wismut had another decision go against them. The referee had no alternative but to show him another yellow card and send him from the pitch.
After 89 minutes Wismut's
M. Grünzer limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
Mummenschanz enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.
The most dominating Mummenschanz player was without a doubt
A. Ziegenhagen.
On the other hand,
M. Rojas's play was disheartening.
Most important Wismut player was
T. Mei.
M. Grünzer was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 4 - 1.
