Clear skies welcomed the 16500 spectators who had made their way to
Galaxy SV Arena.
Hilmar Seelert was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Alain Longis and
Edward Szymona.
Galaxy started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
Starters: Domingos Cardoso - Benkirane, Treserra, Saverys, Karipidis - Pail, Stengel, Hélin, Bladborg - Foder, Gabriel.
Kickers had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation.
The following players had been chosen: Anashenkov - van den Heuvel, Mordechai, Kubarych, Koureas, Tetzel - Davidsson, Oude Weernink, Buls, Antunes - Belfort.
Galaxy took a creative approach on the field.
18 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Galaxy to take the lead after a good cross from the right found
A. Benkirane alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post.
It was 0 - 0 at the break.
Possession in this half belonged to Galaxy, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.
Galaxy were very close to putting themselves one up after 67 minutes as
M. Pail got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide.
Galaxy had a good opportunity to take the lead as
L. Foder came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of
V. Anashenkov.
A scuffle developed as players from both sides clashed following a tussle in the centre of the field 73 minutes into the match. After regaining order and consulting his linesman, the referee called Galaxy's
C. Gabriel to one side and produced a red card for the player.
R. Domingos Cardoso would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
A. Matei entered the game for Galaxy as the match clock showed 75 minutes.
Galaxy enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.
Most important Galaxy player was
L. Foder.
However,
A. Matei made a disastrous appearance.
Kickers's top performer was clearly
V. Koureas.
L. Belfort on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 0 - 0.
