Stonewall 1 - 2 Ultras
(384953617)

07-07-2012 19.15
The 24253 spectators at
FC Stonewall Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine.
Gerard Fons was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Themis Grafopoulos and
Andreas Jonasson.
Stonewall started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Starters: Benaglio - Woolfenden, Augustin, Stjerne - Rydiker, Mejer Larsen, Melon, Boissier, Paulin - Chana, Moravčević.
Ultras tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Sãvescu - Iadanza, Bornstaedt, Calzadilla - Shihrur, Salzmann, Leijoner, Genet, Hadad - Cronén, Behrman.
It was an obvious ambition of Stonewall to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
Stonewall created a good opportunity to score 13 minutes into the match when
F. Boissier's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball.
Down the middle came
R. Calzadilla, making a fantastic play that nearly had Ultras take the lead after 23 minutes, but
V. Benaglio preserved the tie.
With 28 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
A. Genet put the ball away for 0 - 1.
A. Stjerne's technique was perfect on this sunny day and led to some breathtaking tricks that bamboozled the defence.
With 34 minutes played,
R. Hadad nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar.
A good free kick by
P. Augustin would have scored the equaliser for Stonewall, had it not been for the dramatic save by the visitors' goalkeeper.
A. Bornstaedt was, after 37 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
V. Benaglio made the save.
Halftime score was 0 - 1.
Ultras had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.
After 55 minutes, Ultras's
L. Behrman burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Ultras lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
The intense heat forced
K. Leijoner into making some errors because he couldn't seem to keep up with the others.
Stonewall's
M. Moravčević got the home crowd going when he finished off a left wing charge, reducing the away team's lead to 1 - 2.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
L. Behrman from Ultras a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 82 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Unfortunately for Stonewall,
B. Rydiker was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field.
I. Drăgănescu replaced him.
Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
K. Leijoner would have put Ultras up another goal 87 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing.
Stonewall enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.
Stonewall's best player was
K. Chana.
I. Drăgănescu turned in a dismal performance, however.
Most important Ultras player was
A. Bornstaedt.
R. Calzadilla was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 1 - 2.
