previous 3/10 next 5/10  USBVC 2 - 1 Mammobylettes (385893647)

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 31169 to Bellengreville ARENA. Jurica Knez was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jordi Quindós and Michael Olofsson. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for USBVC. The following players had been chosen: Ramírez - Öztürk, El-Gibril, Rovandi - Maia, Kassem, Vayunandan, Bin Hamad Al-Naimi, Toompuu - Simonnet, Hansson.

Mammobylettes decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Páramo - Di Francesco, Ben Jeddou, Limoges - Guiraud, Marangozov, Vaha, Maton, Zynda - Bortone, Cadavedo.

USBVC mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. Mammobylettes took the lead after 22 minutes making the score 0 - 1. L. Marangozov placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. After 30 minutes of play, R. Simonnet evened things up for USBVC with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 1 - 1. Mammobylettes had to manage with a reduced squad after 34 minutes, as O. Zynda got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action. A. Maia was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so USBVC's D. Grønlund had to come off the bench. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. USBVC had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

USBVC took the lead 54 minutes into the game by 2 - 1, as B. Hansson elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why F. Di Francesco found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork. USBVC's D. Öztürk had an excellent opportunity after 69 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! As usual, K. Kassem tried to use his strength and hard work for the benefit of the team, but the heat hit him hard and he couldn't keep pace at all. USBVC's K. Kassem saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 72 minutes. Mammobylettes enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

Most important USBVC player was W. Bin Hamad Al-Naimi. V. Toompuu on the other hand, had a terrible day. L. Marangozov performed admirably for Mammobylettes. F. Limoges was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 1.
