previous 6/10 next 8/10  CATIVO 1 - 4 S.L.Matarraque (386282533)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 15657 at CF Cativo academia today. Mathias Kristoffersen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ritchie John and Ignacio Alesanco. CATIVO decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. Lineup: Saia - Gazzea, Trindade, Câmpean, Shikdar - Wing, Westermann, del Amo, Domingues, Szusza - Pérez.

S.L.Matarraque tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination. They fielded: Lami - Nunes, Ciocârlan, Sousa Cruz, Regier, Suret - Podolinskis, Suurkuukka, Söderstrand - Negri, Eke.

CATIVO clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when G. Ciocârlan was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 17 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! With the clock showing 18 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of CATIVO resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by L. Westermann in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. CATIVO took the lead, 1 - 0, after a penalty 23 minutes into the match. M. Câmpean scored from the penalty spot. The visitors' H. Söderstrand was alert after a cross coming in from the left, levelling the score at 1 - 1 after 24 minutes. 1 - 2 was the score with 33 minutes played, after N. Eke cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for S.L.Matarraque. 1 - 2 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to S.L.Matarraque, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.

G. Ciocârlan received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 49 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 3. The S.L.Matarraque fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. Confident in their lead, S.L.Matarraque's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. After 66 minutes, S.L.Matarraque's G. Podolinskis fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit! The visitors' N. Eke took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 67 minutes into the match. 1 - 4 for S.L.Matarraque. CATIVO needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 70 minutes H. Shikdar made way for M. Robin. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, CATIVO's P. Gazzea was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 70 minutes. H. Dycha was given a chance to change things around. S.L.Matarraque almost scored after a counterattack 70 minutes into the match, but N. Eke took a shot from the left that landed harmlessly in the side of the net. After 71 minutes of the match, the manager still hoped to turn things around. M. Robin was ordered to assume a different position on the pitch. He took the place of Z. Szusza, who in turn replaced his team mate. Still trailing on the score board, CATIVO adjusted their tactics after 71 minutes. H. Dycha had a quick chat at the side line, then switched positions with B. Wing. After 80 minutes, CATIVO switched B. Pérez with O. Livshits, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. S.L.Matarraque's N. Eke left the field after 86 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was J. Mendes. S.L.Matarraque claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

CATIVO's best player was H. Dycha. However, Z. Szusza made a disastrous appearance. Most important S.L.Matarraque player was G. Negri. A. Nunes turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 4.
