Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
Sagita - Żabieniec Lande saw a crowd turnout of 47323.
Marco Tonzar was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Gal Narkis and
Dave Jäggle.
Sagita started off with a 2-5-3 lineup.
Lineup: Przymusiński - Alba, Mendrela - Glienicke, Ogonowski, Praski, Osetek, Bruch - Bulka, Kulawiec, Bidegain.
Romados tactics involved an interesting 5-5-0 combination.
They fielded: Rusak - Landowski, Tomaszewicz, Pieczewski, Sierawski, Wilkowski - Adler, Bronka, Węglarczyk, Babiel, Zdanowski -.
Going for long shots seemed to be the strategy in use by Romados.
14 minutes into the game,
B. Wilkowski was a hair's breadth away from giving Romados the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by
M. Przymusiński saved the home team that time.
Romados focused on finding shooting opportunities from distance and after 21 minutes
M. Bronka fired off the big cannon, but the shot went sailing over the cross bar and into the car park.
A. Zdanowski of Romados was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
It was obvious that Romados set up their play to get a shooter in position, and after 29 minutes they succeeded with their tactics when
L. Babiel found a hole in the defence and his long shot left the keeper without a chance. 0 - 1.
Romados's
M. Bronka made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 37 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line.
0 - 1 was the halftime score.
Possession in this half belonged to Sagita, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.
Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Sagita's
P. Glienicke somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for
D. Kulawiec, who struck for 1 - 1.
After 60 minutes, the Sagita coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
N. Alba off the field.
R. Harańczyk took his place.
L. Babiel had a good opportunity to give Romados the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save.
As the 75 minute mark approached, the Romados coach decided it was time for a substitution.
W. Węglarczyk reluctantly made way for
P. Łątka on the pitch.
After the game, the most discussed event will probably be the penalty given after 83 minutes that gave the visitors the 1 - 2 lead. Despite the controversy,
H. Adler struck home the penalty, as cool as anything.
It was a fine day for
K. Bruch on his wing, his cross pass to
P. Glienicke was especially delicate 84 minutes into the game, but the keeper saved.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
D. Kulawiec from Sagita a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 86 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
The player down was
B. Wilkowski. The Romados bench looked worried for a while, but in the end he managed to get up.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Sagita, with 53 percent of the ball.
Z. Bulka performed admirably for Sagita.
On the other hand,
K. Bruch's play was disheartening.
Romados's best player was
M. Bronka.
M. Rusak was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 1 - 2.
