previous 3/4 next 1/4  Reporter1999 0 - 8 Fire (387423978)

Clear skies welcomed the 6253 spectators who had made their way to Reporter Arena. Dumitru-Ion Eleneş was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Normunds Nagla and Jean-Luc Celle. Reporter1999 had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Wyderski - Angiò, Türkcan, Zisu, Fata - Kryszewski, Bełdowski, Szymala, Haynes - Janowicz, Dazzi.

Fire tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: Bochno - Herdzik, Krzyżyk, Flask - Dziekan, Machel, John, Kozicz, Kosut - Globisz, Brito Carvalho.

It was an obvious ambition of Reporter1999 to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. Fire seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. 0 - 1 was the score with 7 minutes played, after W. Globisz cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Fire. One of many good crosses from R. Dziekan on the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by A. Brito Carvalho, who scored for Fire. 0 - 2 After 23 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed W. Globisz to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 3. Confident in their lead, Fire's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. After 25 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave W. Kosut a chance to increase the lead for Fire, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 4. Some things can only be learned through experience, and A. Fata should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Fire a goal with 28 minutes of the match played. With 29 minutes played, the excellent ball from the wing by Fire's R. Dziekan reached W. Kosut's head, and he is not one to miss such an opportunity - 0 - 5. After 31 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for A. Brito Carvalho who increased Fire's lead to 0 - 6. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 6. Fire had most of the ball, with 68 percent of possession.

After 51 minutes, A. Dazzi had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for Reporter1999 with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar. With 53 minutes played, Fire put themselves up 0 - 7 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was S. Krzyżyk. The visitors' R. John took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 67 minutes into the match. 0 - 8 for Fire. Fire's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 70 minutes gone, but M. Herdzik's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. Fire enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.

Reporter1999's best player was A. Janowicz. However, N. Zisu made a disastrous appearance. B. Kozicz performed admirably for Fire. S. Machel was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 8.
