Dark skies made the crowd of 12000 at FC Malingo Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. Thomas MacConachie was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Rafał Czekała and Guy Hooiman. Malingo started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Starters: Kimose - Jepsen, Bryde, Fransen, Kristiansen - Hemmingsen, Clemmensen, Haugaard, Terkelsen - Fricke, Borg.

HCA tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination. The following players took the field: Skov Knudsen - Flindt, Stærk, Aagesen, Timm, Skydsgaard - Engholm, Adamsen, Winter - Faarkrog, Krogsdal.

HCA's M. Faarkrog was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 21 minutes. 22 minutes into the game, F. Krogsdal was a hair's breadth away from giving HCA the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by F. Kimose saved the home team that time. 27 minutes into the game, G. Adamsen had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. There was concern in the stands when, at the 39 minute mark, Malingo's A. Kristiansen hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. A questionable penalty 40 minutes in gave the home side the lead, 1 - 0. The visitors' goalie didn't stand a chance as M. Jepsen knocked the ball home. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. HCA enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.

With 50 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of HCA resulted in a counterattack that set F. Krogsdal free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. T. Aagesen of HCA was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. The visitors' M. Faarkrog was alert after a cross coming in from the left, levelling the score at 1 - 1 after 60 minutes. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 62 minutes into the match, and B. Engholm wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 1 - 2 for the visitors. 67 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when HCA's M. Faarkrog received his second yellow card and was sent off. 78 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 3 as J. Skydsgaard finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. HCA had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.

Malingo's top performer was clearly F. Fricke. H. Bryde turned in a dismal performance, however. J. Skydsgaard performed admirably for HCA. F. Krogsdal on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 3.
