29-07-2012 22.30
Clear skies welcomed the 7922 spectators who had made their way to
La Caruzera.
Alexander Knigolubov was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Viorel Ionescu and
Maurizio Antedime.
A 4-3-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Caruzzo.
The following players took the field: Koptilov - Valero Martínez, Lescano, Costalta, Germi - Park, Bustos, Daya - Pajareles, Bosi, Krzywda.
Deportivo started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Luinbuhl - Stach, Faldyna, Soñora - Spadavecchia, Irelli, Valderrama, Pusineri, Bindemann - Mazur, Servedio.
Caruzzo demonstrated their creative tactics on the field.
With 4 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
E. Servedio put the ball away for 0 - 1.
27 minutes into the game, Deportivo worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.
F. Mazur could have added one to the visitors' lead if his free kick had gone just a little lower.
After 30 minutes, Deportivo's
F. Mazur swiftly ran past
A. Lescano and nutmegged the keeper! 0 - 2.
The home side worked their way through the middle and almost got one back when
P. Valero Martínez tried to sneak the ball past the keeper.
W. Luinbuhl was too alert for that!
Caruzzo refused to be intimidated and, breaking through the middle,
J. Park managed to slip the ball home for 1 - 2.
F. Stach of Deportivo was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
Halftime score was 1 - 2.
Deportivo claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.
Deportivo's opponents know to be wary of
F. Mazur's speed, but it made little difference as he flew past the defence 62 minutes into the game. Only the keeper could stop him - and he did with a perfectly timed dive!
After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defence 67 minutes into the match, an alert
G. Bustos bagged the ball for Caruzzo, levelling the score to 2 - 2.
69 minutes into the match, Caruzzo's
A. Krzywda demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to
F. Pajareles who chipped it in for 3 - 2.
Caruzzo had to make a substitution after 79 minutes.
F. Pajareles limped off the field and was replaced by
M. Ale.
Caruzzo solidified their lead at the 81 minute mark, as
A. Lescano dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 4 - 2.
Deportivo managed to reduce the score to 4 - 3 as
G. Irelli finished off a well-played combination from the left, easily carving through the defence.
Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.
Most important Caruzzo player was
U. Bosi.
R. Koptilov turned in a dismal performance, however.
Deportivo's best player was
E. Servedio.
However,
J. Valderrama made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 4 - 3.
