previous 4/10 next 6/10  traks 0 - 9 Leondis (391237834)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and the old Trafford saw a crowd turnout of 20465. Pierre Imbach was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Climateu Revenga and Nathan Van De Ginste. traks decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. The following players took the field: Valencia - Villaschi, Rosenblom, Recio Castillo - Abeijón, Johansen, Labuda, Đulić - Marčina, Arieşan, Tessitore.

Leondis tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: de Haard - Bonde, Stepnowski, Chitgar - Dinu, Jørgensen, Jongepier, Kotkaniemi, Theocharis - Hovi, van Zundert.

The strategy for traks was to use their ability to press. Leondis used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. 19 minutes in, traks's G. Tessitore received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. With 31 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. N. Jørgensen put the ball away for 0 - 1. 33 minutes into the game, traks seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. After 39 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for I. Dinu who increased Leondis's lead to 0 - 2. After 41 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave M. Theocharis a chance to increase the lead for Leondis, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 3. After a short break after 42 minutes, Leondis seemed to change their tactical approach a bit. In an effort to secure the lead, Leondis changed their tactic after 42 minutes. Some fine movement on the left led to a Leondis goal after 43 minutes, making it 0 - 4. E. Jongepier was noted down as the scorer. By now, the players in Leondis felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. E. Jongepier of Leondis took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 44 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 5. traks's S. Recio Castillo was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 44 minutes. 44 minutes into the game, traks had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to weak. 0 - 5 was the score after the first half. Leondis enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 75 percent of possession.

The traks players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a solid organisation when the game started again. The coach of Leondis was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 55 minutes, M. Dilek came on for N. Jørgensen. J. Kotkaniemi wanted to play on, but the Leondis coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 55 minutes into the game by E. Piot. E. Piot became the new Leondis captain. In the lead, Leondis adjusted their style of play with 55 minutes gone. Leondis increased their lead after 59 minutes when V. Chitgar broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 6, much to the home crowd's dismay. 62 minutes into the game, Leondis were awarded a penalty and E. Jongepier was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 7 rolling the ball in by the right post. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for E. Jongepier. Leondis players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. S. Bonde received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 70 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 8. The Leondis fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by S. Bonde. At last, Leondis's J. van Zundert was able to backheel the ball in. 0 - 9. G. Tessitore knew he was in trouble after hacking down an opponent. Despite his pleading with the referee, the traks player was shown a second yellow card and dismissed from the game. M. Đulić was handed the traks captain's armband. The player down was M. Dilek. The Leondis bench looked worried for a while, but in the end he managed to get up. J. Valencia got a fingertip on B. Stepnowski's shot from the left 80 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. With the scoreboard showing that 81 minutes had been played, Leondis nearly put themselves up another goal after M. Theocharis came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. Leondis claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 75 percent.

traks's top performer was clearly R. Arieşan. M. Abeijón turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Leondis player was without a doubt L. Hovi. B. de Haard was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 9.
