56461 spectators arrived at
Olimpico Pascual Guerrero, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Davide Stignani was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
César Chueca and
Daniel Dumitrescu.
Power decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players took the field: Staniek - Yılmaz, Philippon, Boniewicz - Skerpen, Banduch, Bustos, Lloret, Burchik - Moratall, Guzmán.
Azurri tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
They fielded: Zárate - Delfino, Jagtmans, Streidl, Desvaux - Smulczyk, Reisenhofer, Heiner, Zuccolotto - Favre, Petranović.
Azurri were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
Power's
S. Philippon got himself booked for a foul.
Power took the lead 16 minutes in, as
K. Boniewicz broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
Ž. Petranović finished off a quick charge from the left of the field by chipping the ball just past the home side's keeper, making the score 1 - 1 21 minutes into the match.
The referee showed Power's
C. Lloret the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
L. Guzmán gave Power the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 2 - 1
Power put themselves up 3 - 1 when
C. Lloret broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
By now, the players in Power felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
3 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Power enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 67 percent of possession.
T. Smulczyk nearly reduced the lead 69 minutes into the game, but a splendid one-handed save by
S. Staniek prevented the attempt coming in from the right flank from hitting the back of the net.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Azurri's
T. Smulczyk was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 70 minutes.
P. Abrunheira was given a chance to change things around.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 84 minutes, Power did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
L. Guzmán was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 4 - 1.
Good work by the Azurri defensive line after 86 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found
P. Abrunheira alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide.
Power had most of the ball, with 65 percent of possession.
F. Moratall performed admirably for Power.
K. Boniewicz was a disappointment, however.
Most important Azurri player was
Ž. Petranović.
C. Streidl on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 4 - 1.
