previous 4/10 next 6/10  Witten07 0 - 2 STONE (392570682)

2244 spectators had come to Wittener Kampf-Arena this cloudy day. Vegard Martinsen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Friedrich Schrofner and Luigi Ameri. Witten07 started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Bentsen - Skala, Sperlich, Speik - Farakopoulos, Kainradl, Hinrichs, Macke, Ramstedt - Álvarez de Meda, Bengtsson.

STONE tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Eylon - Kamposis, Gorla, Holland - Klopp, Vale, Damásio, Jepson, Gradín - Bauer, Jacquin.

STONE's J. Damásio managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 12 minutes. 0 - 1. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from É. Jacquin after 27 minutes, and prevented STONE from going up another goal. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. Witten07 had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.

After 60 minutes, É. Jacquin sent the corner kick right to D. Holland who headed it sharply past the keeper. 0 - 2! Confident in their lead, STONE's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. É. Jacquin was, after 62 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper M. Bentsen made the save. With the clock showing 73 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of STONE resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by S. Jepson in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. The STONE players could smell victory in the air. A. Gorla wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for G. Spada after 75 minutes. After 76 minutes, STONE felt secure enough to make a tactical change. G. Spada and D. Holland assumed each others positions on the field. J. Koberstein was called on to replace Witten07's I. Álvarez de Meda after 79 minutes following a nasty collision. J. Koberstein almost reduced the deficit, having drawn the entire left side defence away, but the shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper. Witten07 enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.

The most dominating Witten07 player was without a doubt T. Kainradl. However, M. Bengtsson made a disastrous appearance. Most important STONE player was É. Jacquin. A. Eylon on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 2.
