Majapahit 1 - 3 Soluna
(392622470)

27-06-2012 07.45
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 43462 to
Lapangan Wadung Dokaran.
Gaston Maasen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Morten Tesdorff and
Dimitris Manousaridis.
Majapahit tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Adi - Wijei, Sikumbang, Ali - Devira, Sahlan, Iskandar, Malik, Ida Bagus - Maulana, Hutauruk.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Soluna.
The following players had been chosen: Wadehängen - Merkus, Piccardo, Frohner - Girelli, Slamet, Said, Boas, Arnalich Fernández - Proprentner, Mansyur.
Majapahit used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings.
Soluna's
M. Proprentner managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 10 minutes. 0 - 1.
It was obvious that team Majapahit had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings.
The referee showed Soluna's
E. Boas the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
After 33 minutes,
E. Piccardo sent the corner kick right to
S. Frohner who headed it sharply past the keeper. 0 - 2!
By now, the players in Soluna felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
F. Girelli would have put Soluna up another goal 35 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing.
E. Arnalich Fernández of Soluna took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 36 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 3.
Soluna's
S. Frohner was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 37 minutes.
Halftime score was 0 - 3.
Majapahit enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.
As usual,
H. Ali tried to use his strength and hard work for the benefit of the team, but the heat hit him hard and he couldn't keep pace at all.
With 61 minutes played,
H. Ali was very close to reducing the score for Majapahit with a low drive from the left, but a defender stuck his foot out just in the nick of time, blocking the shot to a corner.
L. Adi got a fingertip on
L. Mansyur's shot from the left 66 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal.
Majapahit players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead.
80 minutes into the match, Majapahit's
M. Devira collected a ball sent down the right and put it in the back of the net, narrowing the score to 1 - 3.
S. Sahlan tried to get a goal back for Majapahit but despite all his hard work down the right, he just couldn't complete the move.
After 82 minutes, Majapahit's
S. Sahlan fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
Majapahit had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.
Most important Majapahit player was
A. Ida Bagus.
N. Sikumbang turned in a dismal performance, however.
Soluna's best player was
F. Girelli.
E. Boas was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 1 - 3.
