27-06-2012 15.45
Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 1224 at
persian Arena today.
Vincenzo Lopez was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Arvid Kilian and
Horacio Fernández.
Badminton had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation.
They fielded: Chaba - Paddeu, Savoidakis, Poggi, Fotopoulos, Göktürk - Afraz, Mudrenov, Tzur - Yver, Barati.
A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Wędkarz.
The following players had been chosen: Główka - Losito, Giaurowski, Giommi - Porret, Żniwierski, Konat, Rzedzicki - Moskwik, Ładocha, Drągowski.
Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Badminton.
With the match clock at 1 minutes, Badminton modified their style of play a little bit.
The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Wędkarz's
R. Losito after 8 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead.
Badminton caught their opponents out with a clever counterattack down the right wing 18 minutes into the match.
P. Fotopoulos was able to finish off the move - 1 - 1.
Wędkarz's
Z. Ładocha got himself booked for a foul.
The crowd groaned its disapproval when
S. Barati missed a free kick that would have given Badminton the lead after 26 minutes.
In a rapid move 31 minutes into the match,
M. Moskwik of Wędkarz lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked
Z. Ładocha who easily hit it home to make it 1 - 2. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy!
After 33 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
W. Konat to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 3.
P. Giaurowski was, after 35 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
P. Chaba made the save.
Unhappy with the result so far in the game, the Badminton manager used a brief break in play after 38 minutes to give the players new directives.
Halftime score was 1 - 3.
Wędkarz had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.
The bench was restless, and with 58 minutes passed Badminton's coach gave
S. Hazrati the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
L. Paddeu reluctantly left the field.
With 65 minutes played, the Badminton coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
D. Budai came on,
S. Barati had to leave the fray.
After 65 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
Z. Ładocha a chance to increase the lead for Wędkarz, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 4.
Badminton's
C. Göktürk managed a superb strike from the left after 66 minutes that would have left goalkeeper
A. Główka without a chance, had it not hit the post.
72 minutes into the game,
S. Hazrati finished off a Badminton left wing counterattack, making the score 2 - 4.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Badminton's
G. Mudrenov was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 74 minutes.
A. Hakkenbroek was given a chance to change things around.
It took several tries, but Badminton managed to break through on the left after 77 minutes, getting the ball to
S. Hazrati who easily reduced the lead to make the score 3 - 4.
After 78 minutes Wędkarz's
M. Rzedzicki limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
Possession in this half belonged to Wędkarz, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.
The most dominating Badminton player was without a doubt
A. Hakkenbroek.
However,
P. Chaba made a disastrous appearance.
Wędkarz's best player was
E. Porret.
K. Żniwierski was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 3 - 4.
