previous 7/10 next 9/10  LostCanvas 0 - 5 picchio (392805343)

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 162 that came out to Lost Canvas Arena. Martin Lawson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Andre Scheriau and Gheorghe Cojocaru. LostCanvas tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players took the field: Celio - Grasselli, Gargiulo, Astorino, Barbato - Moletto, Tuccillo, Trompetto, Manicone - Pagano, Maltese.

picchio started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Starters: Zambrotta - Pittoni, Pederzani, Trogrlić - Salas, González, Principi, Montanaro, Öhrskog - Piri, Sandmar.

0 - 1 was the score with 2 minutes played, after R. Sandmar cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for picchio. A drive down the left side allowed U. Piri to get in close and score another goal for picchio after 33 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 2. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave P. Moletto from LostCanvas a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 36 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! V. Montanaro received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 37 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to picchio, who controlled the ball 65 percent of the time.

R. Sandmar received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 52 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 3. The picchio fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. M. Principi found it hard to catch his breath today in the stifling heat. 72 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 4 as P. Salas finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. By now, the players in picchio felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Unfortunately for picchio, M. Öhrskog suffered a concussion after 74 minutes and had to be taken for tests. The coach had his head in his hands after realising he could not send a replacement onto the pitch, and the team had to continue a man short. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from R. Sandmar after 75 minutes, and prevented picchio from going up another goal. The visitors' Ž. Trogrlić took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 77 minutes into the match. 0 - 5 for picchio. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by picchio, with 63 percent of the ball.

LostCanvas's best player was L. Pagano. E. Astorino on the other hand, had a terrible day. picchio's top performer was clearly R. Sandmar. E. Pittoni was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 5.
