Clouds darkened the skies at Schützenarena as 30000 spectators turned up for the match. Dominik Pichler was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Kornelius Berndl and Paul Wesseling. Kickers were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. After 6 minutes, Kickers put themselves up 0 - 1, as J. Kraul finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. J. Kraul came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over R. Pribil but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. After 39 minutes, Kickers sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached P. Barrakling, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 0 - 2. By now, the players in Kickers felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. There was concern in the stands when, at the 40 minute mark, SVG's A. Mayo hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. Kickers were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings. 0 - 2 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Kickers, who controlled the ball 54 percent of the time.

J. Kraul's speed was almost enough to give Kickers a goal after 50 minutes, but his nice pass to M. Simons was not taken care of properly. The home side worked hard to get through the middle and as a result, had a good chance of getting one back as S. Arbatskiy tried lifting the ball over keeper A. Gmach. Unfortunately, the ball went just over the bar. The Kickers players could smell victory in the air. T. de Lint wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for R. Holland after 70 minutes. P. Barrakling wanted to play on, but the Kickers coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 80 minutes into the game by O. Varta. With 82 minutes played, R. Ozeri nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. J. Rubio Vega of SVG received a yellow card after 88 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Kickers claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.

J. Hoenderkamp performed admirably for SVG. R. Pribil on the other hand, had a terrible day. Kickers's top performer was clearly J. Kraul. However, T. Velss made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 2.
