previous 3/10 next 5/10  Genfis 2 - 1 Vituperio (393077498)

Due to an all-day shower, 1706 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Peña de Abajo Arena. Reinhart Dombrowski was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jens Mei and Valentino Meillasson. Genfis started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. Starters: Gritsuk - Orquín, Flodgård, Hateboer, Pacyniak - Alonso, Tasselli, Sanchez, Cagiga, Taillefer - Garcia.

A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Vituperio. The following players took the field: Lattuada - Svensson, Pugiotto, Indri - Bertoja, Nuhiu, Canargiu, Arcolei - Limoli, Bisazza, Schroeder.

Genfis were relying on their ability to counter-attack. The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like M. Nuhiu. Vituperio's E. Schroeder left the field after 39 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was N. Peren. After 40 minutes, J. Orquín came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving Genfis the lead. 41 minutes into the game, Vituperio had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to passable. With 44 minutes played, the visitors could have drawn level after I. Bisazza came through the middle, but his kick went wide. 44 minutes in, Vituperio appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only weak. After 44 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and B. Taillefer gave the Genfis supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Genfis enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.

During the break, Vituperio's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to passable organisation. Thighs bulging, V. Bertoja charged past the weaker players, seemingly oblivious to the rain. Vituperio's I. Bisazza was shown a yellow card after 72 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The visitors' right side was dangerous today; A. Arcolei made the home team's keeper look foolish as he easily reduced the lead to make it 2 - 1 76 minutes into the match. Genfis had to make a substitution after 83 minutes. M. Tasselli limped off the field and was replaced by A. Kvarme. With 84 minutes played, N. Peren came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by Vituperio. 87 minutes into the game, Vituperio seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to passable. Genfis had most of the ball, with 65 percent of possession.

Genfis's best player was A. Kvarme. However, V. Gritsuk made a disastrous appearance. P. Svensson performed admirably for Vituperio. F. Indri was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 1.
