previous 3/10 next 5/10  Amazones 5 - 0 Pitipio (393313410)

2095 spectators arrived at Thermodontas Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Mario Aguerri was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jochen Fürstaller and Fredrik Lundqvist. Amazones had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. The following players had been chosen: Díaz - Grafen, Can, Enes - Porcellato, Wedral, Ernisson, Thyen - Iancu, Krotwaar, Baldissarro.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Pitipio. Lineup: Banach - Ottevanger, Nasic, Folmer - Płocki, Accorroni, Lanza, Peeters, Dudaško - Marlin, Bielecki.

Pitipio were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to G. Iancu, but the Amazones player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! Amazones increased the lead as T. Can struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. A. Grafen struck a 30 metre free kick home 30 minutes into the match. 3 - 0 for the home team. J. Thyen dispatched a majestic long shot 37 minutes into the match, but missed the goal by a few metres. M. Accorroni of Pitipio was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. 42 minutes in, Amazones's S. Krotwaar received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. It was 3 - 0 at the break. Amazones had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.

51 minutes into the game, Amazones were awarded a penalty that A. Grafen turned into 4 - 0 without a problem. After 58 minutes Amazones's W. Wedral contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. Amazones solidified their lead at the 64 minute mark, as W. Wedral dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 0. After this, you could see that the players of Amazones were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. With 67 minutes played, S. Krotwaar could have brought this one home for Amazones as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. Amazones put in a good effort on the right, but Þ. Ernisson saw his volley fly wide of the mark 70 minutes into the game. 72 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when Amazones's S. Krotwaar received his second yellow card and was sent off. A. Nasic of Pitipio had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game. E. Adam came in to finish the match. Amazones claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.

Most important Amazones player was G. Iancu. On the other hand, T. Can's play was disheartening. Pitipio's best player was E. Adam. S. Ottevanger turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 5 - 0.
