previous 4/10 next 6/10  Akihabara 4 - 0 Turkestan (393819218)

The 4462 fans in attendance at AKIBA Yodobashi Arena were roasting in the hot sun. Julius Sæter was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Domenico Bartal and Bernie Verhoeven. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Akihabara. Starters: Kovalcsik - Kitano, Lemmenmeier, Apelgård, Kupari - Dlouhý, Isayama, 稲葉 (Inaba), 本多 (Honda) - Raciti, Ligendza.

Turkestan tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Lodiers - Detsch, Gheorghe - Panin, Adzhimuratov, Naukenov, Rooneyev, Kurilenko - Sultanov, Loewner, Kosilov.

Akihabara were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. It was obvious that Akihabara had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. 5 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Akihabara was S. Ligendza. It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why 昭. 稲葉 (Inaba) found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork. After 19 minutes, Akihabara were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. 昭. 稲葉 (Inaba) did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. Coming from the right, A. Kupari almost managed to score another goal for Akihabara, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. 23 minutes in, Akihabara appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only inadequate. Akihabara's S. Ligendza swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Akihabara, with 61 percent of the ball.

During the break, Akihabara's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organisation. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Akihabara coach let A. Le Brun replace K. Kitano after 46 minutes. The Akihabara players could smell victory in the air. S. Kovalcsik wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for M. Kutsiy after 46 minutes. The Turkestan coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change strategy. The Turkestan players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team. A well-executed free kick by A. Kupari after 50 minutes made it 2 - 0 for Akihabara. Turkestan had to make a substitution after 53 minutes. L. Gheorghe limped off the field and was replaced by N. Zaunbrecher. The coach of Akihabara was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 62 minutes, K. Mizushima came on for R. Raciti. 69 minutes into the game, Akihabara seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a weak level of organisation. The intense heat forced A. Le Brun into making some errors because he couldn't seem to keep up with the others. Cheers filled the stadium as 隆. 本多 (Honda) broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 0 to Akihabara. Akihabara had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead. Akihabara managed to extend their lead to 4 - 0 when K. Mizushima cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Confident in their lead, Akihabara's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. In the lead, Akihabara adjusted their style of play with 89 minutes gone. Akihabara enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.

The most dominating Akihabara player was without a doubt K. Mizushima. M. Kutsiy turned in a dismal performance, however. N. Zaunbrecher performed admirably for Turkestan. On the other hand, V. Kosilov's play was disheartening. The match ends 4 - 0.
