A well placed corner kick from L. Drummond was followed by D. Rijvers's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Kiel, the score now 0 - 1. A crazy pass by E. Kleinsteuber towards his own keeper almost caused a goal for Beira, but G. Bourgois didn't get the finish right. H. Biberich kept the home side in the game with a magnificent save when L. Drummond delivered an almost perfect free kick to the far post. The home crowd cheered when, after 40 minutes, P. Philipsen's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. 43 minutes into the game, M. Leoni had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came T. Rottwinkel. Due to some great work on the right wing Beira's T. Dzhananov was able to even the score after 43 minutes to make the score 1 - 1. Beira took the lead 44 minutes into the game by 2 - 1, as M. Nilsson elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. 2 - 1 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Beira, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

A great save by keeper L. Drummond after 47 minutes kept the visitors in the game after G. Bourgois struck from the left with a real cannonball. Beira put in a good effort on the right, but G. Bourgois saw his volley fly wide of the mark 58 minutes into the game. Beira's J. Maćkiewicz increased the lead to 3 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 65 minutes. Coming from the right, T. Dzhananov almost managed to score another goal for Beira, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. 75 minutes into the match, Kiel replied and reduced the lead to 3 - 2. E. Kleinsteuber scored on a marvellous cross pass coming in from the left. Beira claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.

The most dominating Beira player was without a doubt M. Nilsson. A. Masruq was a disappointment, however. Kiel's top performer was clearly L. Drummond. On the other hand, T. Rottwinkel's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 2.
