The pressing tactics used by F.C. were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times. Down the middle came F. Gyurta, making a fantastic play that nearly had F.C. take the lead after 25 minutes, but S. Soenen preserved the tie. 29 minutes into the match and the home team took a 2 - 1 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Ujpest-Rotop was S. Gašić. K. Nordhagen struck a 30 metre free kick home 32 minutes into the match. 3 - 1 for the home team. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 1. Ujpest-Rotop enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.

Ujpest-Rotop managed to extend their lead to 4 - 1 when S. Gašić cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Ujpest-Rotop solidified their lead at the 66 minute mark, as I. Liniger dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 1. Cheers filled the stadium as S. Gašić broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 6 - 1 to Ujpest-Rotop. That made three goals for S. Gašić and he was marked down for the hat trick. After 84 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and P. Fauvel gave the Ujpest-Rotop supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 7 - 1. Confident in their lead, Ujpest-Rotop's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. 86 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Z.
