Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 7000 to Hamadan Arena. Igor Velagić was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Daniel Puehringer and Lucca Nilis. Hamadan decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. Starters: Parvin - Hamedani, Iranian, Gerami, Amanpour - Jalilvand, Alam, Arjmand, Monajati - Mirzaei, Nikbakht.

Persepolis decided to use a 5-3-2 set up. Lineup: Naji - Giani, Marzullo, Stavland, Barontini, Andrieu - Brunelli, Vasic, Alert - Kastēns, Nellemann.

After 7 minutes, Persepolis's E. Kastēns made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. The referee showed Persepolis's M. Barontini the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. O. Nikbakht was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Hamadan's M. Shams had to come off the bench. The home keeper was stunned 14 minutes into the match when he misjudged the free kick by E. Kastēns and dived in the wrong direction. The visitors increased the lead to 0 - 2. After 37 minutes, K. Iranian made a complete fool of himself when he presented the ball to the feet of C. Nellemann who smashed it into the open goal for Persepolis. 0 - 3. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Persepolis lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. With 40 minutes played, C. Nellemann nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. The visitors' U. Marzullo took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 43 minutes into the match. 0 - 4 for Persepolis. With 44 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed C. Nellemann of Persepolis to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 5. It was 0 - 5 at the break. Possession in this half belonged to Persepolis, who controlled the ball 72 percent of the time.

G. Brunelli received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 81 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 6. The Persepolis fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. K. Stavland of Persepolis received a yellow card after 83 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. L. Shams was called on to replace Hamadan's M. Hamedani after 84 minutes following a nasty collision. An amazing free kick flew past the home keeper 85 minutes into the match, putting Persepolis ahead 0 - 7. E. Kastēns was the scorer. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for E. Kastēns. After 89 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave D. Giani a chance to increase the lead for Persepolis, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 8. Persepolis had most of the ball, with 76 percent of possession.

M. Arjmand performed admirably for Hamadan. L. Shams on the other hand, had a terrible day. D. Vasic performed admirably for Persepolis. However, A. Naji made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 8.
