55000 punters turned up at La Bretella, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Gunnar Mikaelsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Arne Steenbakkers and Severiano Rebolledo. Summano decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. After 17 minutes P. Matta made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to A. Sticotti who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 0 - 1. T. Balsby showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 19 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 1 - 1 equaliser away. The visiting A. Sticotti was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 25 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 1 - 2 was the score. Merovingio had to manage with a reduced squad after 33 minutes, as D. Lemos got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action. 36 minutes into the game, P. Arcangeli had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came S. Collaro. The crowd was on its feet 37 minutes into the match, as Summano's T. Balsby found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 2 - 2 equaliser. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 2. Summano had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

Summano took the lead after 50 minutes as a result of R. Betzner's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 3 - 2. A well placed corner kick from G. Marrani was followed by G. Trangoni's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Merovingio, the score now 3 - 3. After 72 minutes, Merovingio's A. Constantin made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 3 - 4. Merovingio's P. Matta was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 73 minutes. Merovingio increased the lead to 3 - 5 as G. Marrani scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner. Merovingio's A. Constantin placed the ball right at his teammate's feet after a corner, but S. Thuang Hee couldn't finish. A drive down the left side allowed A. Puddu to get in close and score another goal for Merovingio after 81 minutes, taking the score to 3 - 6. Confident in their lead, Merovingio's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Summano claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

Most important Summano player was G. Santangelo. S. Collaro turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Merovingio player was J. Galdames. A. Constantin was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 6.
